Fall River announces return of street sweeping program April 1
FALL RIVER — The city's street sweeping program is coming back, just in time for some spring cleaning.
Starting on Tuesday, April 1, the Department of Community Maintenance will be resuming its residential street sweeper program.
That's not an April Fool's Day joke either; the announcement was made in a press release from The City of Fall River.
There will be parking restrictions in place, so that street sweepers can have curb-to-curb access.
Parking is prohibited on one side of a selected street from 8 a.m. to noon on a designated day of the month. The following day, parking is prohibited on the opposite side of the same street.
The program operates on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, from April 1 until Nov. 1.
Street sweeping, and enforcement of the parking restrictions, will not take place on holidays.
Those in violation of the scheduled parking rules will be subject to fines, except where there is parking allowed only on one side of the street, the press release said.
All twelve sectors are now expected to take part in the program for the duration of the 2025 season.
Residents can determine whether they live in one of the twelve sectors by referring to the maps posted to the City of Fall River’s website.
